Sustainability Correspondent: Maddie in Madrid

Hi everyone!  My name is Maddie, and I’m a first-semester junior from Oakland, California currently studying Spanish.  This fall, I’m going to be studying abroad in Madrid, Spain (and then Ecuador in the spring)!  While in Europe, I’ll be participating in the Middlebury Language Exchange Program and living with a host family.  Hopefully, this will enable me to finally progress from an advanced Spanish speaker to one who is fluent!

Throughout the semester, I will be using this blog as a platform for my exploration into some of the larger climate issues Spain is presently facing, specifically traffic-related, air pollution.  Although I’m not incredibly familiar with the environmental challenges in Madrid, my hope is that this page will become a space for us all to delve more deeply into that investigation—one where we can grow and become more informed about the world around us.

I’m so excited to be embarking on this journey and to have the opportunity to learn more about our environment/how we can work to protect it!  Thanks so much for joining me, and stay tuned for more updates.
